Welcome to The Design Station, Alexandria's only DIY Studio. Located in a historic Northern Pacific Railroad Dining Car, we are a unique & cozy "Pinterest Driven" DIY {Do-It-Yourself} Studio where you can gather with friends while our instructor takes you on a creative journey of creating charming and unique home decor items from raw materials in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Our studio events are great for girls nights, corporate events, small groups, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, birthday parties {kids or adults!} & more! Every DIY experience is guided with a knowledgable instructor - great for beginners or experienced crafters.
No experience necessary! You will be guided through the project step-by-step so you can enjoy a fun, laid-back, creative experience

Hi I am Gwen Schroeder a entrepreneur that has a passion for creating and I love to share what I enjoy with others. Through a few life challenges I have learned if you have a dream -just do it as life is short. In 2018 I went out on a limb and decided to create my own business as I saw the idea of Creative DIY Workshops becoming offered via social media. So as I tell everyone I leaped over the bridge, both feet straight down and have created by myself what The Design Station is currently. I enjoy seeing my customers of all ages and creative levels take the supplies I give them and make a unique home decor piece that becomes special to them because they actually made it. Through several of my groups I watch self confidence increase as most state they are not crafty but go home with new pride they had just given them self by going outside the box of trying something new.
